Wanting to visit the paradise place in Palawan?  I know you have been very excited to go to the paradise place called El Nido that’s why you are here looking for more information and guide about the place. Anyway, I will help you in that regard, I may not tell you everything but I can give you a few things about El Nido.

I have been there in September of 2015; it was the very best place I have ever been visited so far in all of my travel around the Philippine Islands. I have been into many places and islands but El Nido was the best among others.

How to get there:

El Nido is located at the northern part of Palawan, when you are coming from Manila, take a flight to Puerto Princesa Palawan. Choose a flight from the following airlines Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines or Air Asia. In my trip, I chose the AirASia because they’ve offered the lowest fare compare to other airline companies, the other option is to take charter flight directly to EL Nido airport which is three times more expensive that the regular flights.

How to get from Puerto Princesa to El Nido:

There are two options to choose, you may either want to ride the van or bus to El Nido. In my trip, I chose to travel in Van, choosing van makes it easier and convenient for me, this is because, you can ask the transport to fetch you from the airport though the fees maybe higher compare to bus which is only Php483.00 which you’ll still need to ride a tricycle from airport to bus terminal that will cost you for about Php120-150 pesos which may be equal to riding a van.

Choosing a van will minimize your time and effort on transferring yourself and your baggage, and will arrive fast to your destination. To help you give the daily trip to El Nido, here’s the schedule.

Where to stay:

El Nido Palawan Beach Hotel

If you’re on budget and can’t afford to stay in expensive Hotels in EL Nido, you can stay in some cheaper INN in EL Nido, there are few of them that offers accommodation for less than a thousand pesos and one of the cheapest Inn I’ve known is the Tay’s Miloy Inn, it’s not fronting beach but a few minutes away maybe 3-5 minutes away by walk. If you have enough budget then go the Hotels like Php25,000 per night, El Nido has a lot of good hotels too. On the other hand, Tay Miloy’s Inn offers only Php400-600 pesos for two persons for 24hour comes with electric fan, good enough for a type of travellers who are in budget. Though, most of the time you’re out in your room since you’re on your tours, you only pay for this to have your baggage a place to leave in. Check in time is 12:00noon and check out will be the same time on the following day. They can be reached at (+63)939-469-7192 or click here to see their Facebook page for updated contact details.

In my experienced, tour A has the best islands view that your eyes would want to enjoy among others, big and small lagoon are among the best islands in El Nido, according to the tour guide many of the Hollywood stars filmed the islands and also the best in my opinion. Once you have purchased the tour package in one of the tours mentioned above, goggles and other materials for swimming and snorkeling are included. In every island, there are many activities that you can do e.g. kayak, volleyball etc.. you’ll need to pay for the extra things since it is an island additional offers and not included in the tour packages.  In 7 commando Island, you can get off the boat and roam along the wide white sand, volleyball is also there you can join with other tourists, if you’re not into sports, you can grab a bottle of beer and have yourself relaxed on the beach and watch the sun as it sets down.

Don’t forget also to visit Las Cabañas Beach, though it is not included in the above tour packages but you can go there by yourself all you have to do is rent a single motor just tell the driver to bring you to Las Cabañas beach it will take you 6 minutes to get there. Fare is Php150 for one way ride. You can do sun bathing there, the island is free, there are also restaurants there, you can order for lunch, snacks, fruit shakes or beer. Zip line is also available in this place, you only have to pay for Php800 the two way cable line.

Mount Taraw

Mount Taraw El Nido Palawan Philippines Small Mount Taraw- EL Nido Palawan Philippines

There’s a place called Mt. Taraw, this is the peak mountain besides El Nido proper town, it is a rocky high cliff of mountain that when you reach to the very peak you can entirely see the whole town of El Nido, mountaineers love to climb this highest peak mountain of EL Nido.

In my trip, I only reached the small Taraw, half the tall of big Taraw Mountain. It took me about half an hour to get there, the main gate was temporary closed during that time but the attendant was very considerate to open the gate and allowed me to get there. You can easily reach to the top since you are no longer going to get through the rocky cliffs since steel cable and bridges have been installed already with materials to keep you safety.

Where to eat:

El Nido Palawan Beach El Nido Palawan- breakfast

El Nido has a lot of restaurants, you may want to eat at hotel’s restaurants or choose to eat at the seaside restaurants with spectacular view of El Nido’s front beach. During at night, there are many restaurants on the beach offering delicious foods, and of course our Filipino favorite grilled fresh fish, barbeque and et cetera.

If you don’t like grilled foods, and on budget you can come to a cheaper carenderia that would cost you around 60-70 pesos with rice and ulam.

Please know that El Nido has no fast food restaurants like Mcdonalds and Jollibee etc. you got no choice but to eat at these restaurants.

  • El Nido Island has no ATM machine, so make sure to bring enough cash for your whole duration of stay in the island. ATM machines are for First Consolidated Bank depositors only. Credit cards are accepted in some tourism establishments.
  • Western Union – is the alternative option if you’re running out of cash, just deposit some cash in your western union account, show your passport upon claim of your cash.
  • El Nido is now collecting Eco-Tourism Development Fee amounting to Php200 pesos valid for 10 days.
  • Swimming attire is not allowed in the town streets.
  • Taking shells and sands from the beach is prohibited.
  • Segregation is practiced in the town proper. Penalty for littering at any public place is Php100.
