If you are looking for a summer trip near Metro Manila, Puerto Galera is one of the great place to hang out with friends.
Puerto Galera is ideal for swimming, sailing, surfing, snorkeling and scuba diving. It is considered one of the most beautiful and developed beach resort community in the country. Similar to Boracay and Palawan, Puerto Galera has also a view and the activities that can compete to these known summer getaway places. Puerto Galera is the northwesternmost municipality in the province of Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. It is located at the southwestern end of the Isla Verde Passage, about 130 kilometers south of Manila.
How to get there:
Go to any of the following bus terminals in Metro Manila:
- Bus Terminals near the corner of Taft Avenue and Gil Puyat Avenue (formerly Buendia), Pasay City – nearest Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Domestic Airport.
- Bus Terminal near Ali Mall, Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City.
- Bus Terminal in EDSA corner Kamias Street, Quezon City.
- Bus Terminal in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
There are many buses that will get you to Batangas Port but I would suggest to ride Batangas Express Bus, this bus has a convenient and comfortable chairs, this can be found besides LRT Gil Puyat Station, Pasay City. Fare is P168 one way as of 2015, and it will take you up to three (3) hours to get to Batangas Port via South Luzon Expressway.
Upon arrival in Batangas pier, go to Terminal 3 and find the ticket booth of the ferry going to Puerto Galera.
The following are required to pay at Batangas Port:
- Terminal Fee worth P30 pesos per person.
- Environmental User Fee for tourists going to Puerto Galera worth 50 pesos per person.
- The ticket costs 250 to 280 pesos, one-way.
Make sure that the boat you are going to board is the one that will go to your chosen destination. Puerto Galera has four locations of destinations that you may want to visit namely: Sabang Pier, Muelle Pier, Balatero Pier and White Beach. Before boarding, please ask the terminal personnel to lead you to board on the right boat that will bring you to your chosen destination. In our trip, we chose the “White Beach” it is where the vast white sands are located and the majority of the tourist goes.
During our trip, we had booked our hotel accommodation to the Hotel’s owner named Felix Manalo, who is also friend of my friend. He owned the hotel which we lived in, he offered us with a very affordable price. He gave us huge discounts for two rooms we only have paid P2,000 for a two-bedroom air-conditioned room with TV and kitchen, we were allowed to buy and cook our food their but we chose to have a dinner at the restaurant near seaside since we arrived there at around 6pm so we don’t have time to buy and cook our dinner.
Here’s the photo of our first day dinner at Puerto Galera:
After the dinner, it’s time for us to have some drinks at one of the bars along seaside at Puerto Galera. We really enjoyed our vacation here even if the weather isn’t that good enough but still we were entertained by some of the activities especially the fire dancing at the beach, it really amazed us, as it is how the locals entertained their visitors. Taking picture with the fire dancers is also free, donations are accepted as token to the dancers.
On the second day, we rose early in the morning before 5’oclock to experience and witness the rising of the Sun, as we get to the beach we had first our coffee with the group. After sipping the hot coffee of white beach coffee shop we headed to the sea to take some photos before the sunrise, some were taking jump shoots and groupselfies.
